Q: What type of noise does a faulty transmission make?
- Loud whine over 25 mph.
- Low whine in all gears, including Neutral and Park.
- Clicking, buzzing, or whistling sound.
- A rumbling sound while in gear.
- A 'clunking' sound when transmission is put in drive or reverse.
If you notice any of these symptoms, take your car to Hi-Tech Transmissions without delay.
Q: How long does it typically take for a transmission repair?
Minor services can sometimes be performed the same day since they do not involve the removal of your transmission. Major services or transmission rebuilding could take several days so that your transmission can be properly removed, reconditioned or rebuilt, and reinstalled.
Q: How often should I have my transmission checked?
Consult your owner's manual for recommended maintenance schedules, but practicing preventative maintenance can extend your car's and its transmission's life. We recommend an annual check of your vehicle's transmission in order to catch the little problems before they become big problems.
Q: What if I need a new transmission? How much would that be?
It is highly unlikely that you will need a new transmission. Of the 300 to 500 parts inside an automatic transmission, some will be able to be reused. That saving can be passed on to you. We find it more inexpensive to rebuild the transmission than replace it. The price to repair your transmission will depend upon how much damage is done to your transmission.
Q: What methods of payment are accepted at Hi-Tech Transmissions?
At Hi-Tech Transmissions we accept Visa, MasterCard, cash, check or debit cards.
Q: Why can't you give me a price over the phone?
We find that, many times, customers call with what appears to be something serious and it turns out to be something simple. In other words, only after a complete and thorough evaluation on the transmission is made and the cause of the symptom is identified can Hi-Tech Transmissions offer you a price. We will be in a much better position to do that after we have checked out your vehicle.
Q: Could a fluid change solve my problem?
It's possible. Depending on what the transmission is doing, a fluid change along with replacing the filter and making the necessary adjustments may solve the condition you are experiencing. If the car has an internal problem, it will not. To find out more, bring your vehicle to Hi-Tech Transmissions.
